2022 CLASSES: 8th-12th Poetry

2012 theater court.jpg
Class Description
Poetry – the art form that uses words to convey emotions – is often a neglected literature subject. This class will teach about the different forms of poetry and terms, as well as take you on a journey through history’s most memorable poems.

You will receive four booklets containing all the poems that you will need to read before each class as part of the class fee. You can pick these booklets up at in-person classes or schedule a time for a porch pick-up.

We will meet once a month over Zoom to discuss the poems we’ve read and learn more about the stories behind those poems. Students must be able to read the booklets (or have them read to them) before class.

Meet The Teacher

Hello! I'm Rhiannon Bacon. I have over 13 years of experience teaching students in such diverse topics as literature and chemistry.

I have not only taught at Franklin School for those thirteen years, but I have also taught classes at Montessori schools and community events around the city.

With that much teaching experience under my belt, I've learned a thing or two. I utilize that experience in the classroom to find the unique way your child learns and help them to do the best they can. I want each child in my class to learn lessons that stay with them for the rest of their lives, and to do that I have to make each day a memorable and fun experience.

I love working with people who love learning, and who challenge themselves to do a little better each time. If a child is instilled with the desire to do this, the rest is easy.
